How To Make A Save The Date Card

Transcript
[ Vignettes Index ]

Materials You Will Need:
A blank postcard or greeting card
pre-inked and clear embossing pad
embossing powder in the color of your choice
a heat tool
a rubber stamp in any design
a pen
a decorative postage stamp

Step 1

Touch the rubber stamp to the ink pad and then stamp the blank postcard in any fashion you wish. We found a great book of blank postcards with scalloped edges at a local discount craft store.

Step 2

Because embossing ink is slower to dry, you can generously sprinkle embossing powder over the stamped image without worrying that it will dry quickly.

Step 3

Carefully slide the excess embossing powder off the card. You may want to save the excess powder by placing the surplus back into the bottle for future cards.

Step 4

Cure by holding an embossing heat tool over the stamped image at a 45 degree angle. You will soon notice the image become raised and shiny.

Step 5

Turn the card over and compose a simple message. At minimum, you should mention the exact date of your wedding and the location where the wedding will be held. You should also include a phrase indicating that formal invitations will soon follow. Address the card, place a stamp in the corner and send your blissful message on its way! This is a great way to save money while at the same time adding some personal touches. You can use this embossing technique on any blank card or greeting card found in your local discount arts and crafts supplies store.
