Cut Out For Each Other
Submitted by: Tracey of Dumont, New Jersey, USA
I was recently a bridesmaid at a wedding and the bride made all of the favors by herself and I thought they were the cutest and simplest favors. She had someone print from the computer a recipe for cookies. She folded the paper in half and placed the guest's name placed on the front (right bottom) and the wedding date (the left bottom). On top it read "Truly Cut Out For Each Other". She, then, cut the front of the paper in the shape of a heart. She placed a cookie cutter and wrapped it around the cut out heart in lace the color of the bridesmaids' dresses. It works with whatever cookie recipe you want but make sure at the bottom you write "Enjoy - While remembering the sweetness of our wedding day!"

Old Photos
Submitted by: Dodee of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
For our May 19, 2001 wedding, we are taking old wedding pictures (we have a big family) and scanning and printing them on photo paper. They look like the originals! And we put them in a small 2x3 inch silver frame that, at the top, had two glasses toasting. On the back of each frame, we will be typing up a story telling where the couple met and when they got married. The guests are allowed to take home whichever one they want. We are making extra copies of the grandparents. Hopefully, this will conjure up some good memories of the past as well as create conversation pieces on the tables at the reception!

Hand-painted Champagne Glasses
Submitted by: Rebecca of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, USA
For my May 2002 wedding, my maid of honor came up with a great idea. She works in a pottery painting studio where you can purchase pieces in bulk. To buy 150 champagne glasses works out to be less then $1 each. We are going to paint flowers (to match the wedding colors) on each one with glass paint. On the bottom of the glass, we will write the date and the bride and groom's names. These glasses will be used for the champagne toast and the caterers will wash them out after dinner. They will be placed on a table by the door for guests to grab on their way out. They are pretty, functional, and add a personal touch because they will each be hand painted (it does not take as long as it sounds!). The best part is that the paint wipes right off while it is still wet so you do not need to worry about mistakes! The design can be as simple or as detailed as we want.

Silver Teaspoons
Submitted by: Lui and May of Pasig City, Philippines
Lui and I are getting married and as a wedding favor we decided to give our attendees a "Silver Teaspoon." We just bought some silver ribbon which is our wedding motif then little silver bells and little flowers and a computerized cut out board paper that reads, "LUI & MAY wedding (date of wedding) Thank you for coming! (place of reception)."

Treasure Chests
Submitted by: Chrystal of Phoenix, Arizona, USA
With a fantasy theme wedding, it was difficult to figure out favors. With both my fiance and I being sentimental we wanted something to be able to look back on. We are having a treasure chest made that will act as a sort of time capsule. Smaller treasure chests will go on the reception tables with customized stationary, envelopes and personalized pens for our guests to write us a note, easl it in an envelope and place in the big treasure chest to be opened on our 25th anniversary. To give it a bit of flair, we are having a friend go around with IZONE sticky film taking pictures of our friend and family to put on the envelopes as well.

Golf Balls and Tees
Submitted by: Judi P. of Frederick, Maryland, USA
I wanted to include my fiance's interests for part of the favors. We, also, wanted favors for the men that attend weddings and usually have nothing for themselves to use. So, we decided on golf balls and tees. I had the golf balls and tees personalized with both of our names and wedding date, then put them in little silver and white mesh pouches with a drawstring.

Native American Wedding Favors
Submitted by: Georgia S. of Phoenix, Arizona, USA
My father is Native American and though we are having a Renaissance Theme wedding, we intend on honoring him and the ways of our people. The Native Americans present giveaways for guests at important functions. We are giving out some leather and making the following sachets:

white cornmeal- female energy
yellow cornmeal- male energy
sage- for cleansing and purity
tobacco- so that thier prayers will always be heard by the Ancestors
jerky- so that they will never know hunger
salt- so they will never be without what is needed to survive.

We will be tying these with thongs and decorate them with dreamcatcher charms and feathers.

Mini Bottles of Maple Syrup
Submitted by: Karolina of Montreal, Canada
I am Polish and my fiancé is French-Canadian so we wanted our wedding favors to reflect both our backgrounds. Since his father is a maple syrup producer, we decided to give out miniature bottles of syrup attached with gold/white ribbons with a piece of amber hotglued on it. It was very cute and represented a little bit of me and him - together.

Mini-Plates
Submitted by: CiCi of Charlotte
For my wedding, I wanted a favor I had never seen before. While shopping around at dollar stores, I found mini plates that had wedding-related sayings written on them. For example, "To Have and To Hold". I attached three Jordan almonds wrapped in tulle to the plate along with ribbon with our names and wedding date printed on it. We, then, placed them in white gift boxes with a gold elastic string and a bow. A gift from us to our guests.

Swans filled with Candy Almonds
Submitted by: Sherry of Buffalo
For my sister's wedding, we bought beautiful little white swans with an opening on top. We filled the swans with candy almonds and wrote bride and groom info on each with gold and silver marker pens. The swans cost 2 for $1.00 at a dollar store and they were a big hit!

Wind Chimes
Submitted by: Laura S. Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, USA
My wedding is in the fall and I wanted to have a unique favor each of my guests. I took three clay pots: small, medium, and large. I painted them creme and stenciled fall leaves around the large clay pot. I also sponge-painted gold on the outside rim of each pot. Then strung them together and added a gold painted wooden bead on top. I did this for 150 people. This favor was time consuming, but very much worth it when they were all done.

Chinese Teacups
Submitted by: Pavadee Y. of Aliso Viejo
For our recent June 2001 wedding, we chose Chinese teacups. My husband is Chinese and we wanted to incorporate chinese influence into the party favors. We decided on chinese teacups filled with Jordan almonds wrapped in tulle and tied with rose decorations and a personalized white and silver trimmed ribbon printed with our names and wedding date.

Audio CD / Place Card
Submitted by: Pavadee Y. of Aliso Viejo
It may be a little expensive but it looks great at the tables. I attended a wedding a month after my husband and I got married. The couple placed CD's on the table with a picture of them dressed in casual clothes for the cover and ten of the favorite hits or love songs on the CD. They also served as place cards because they included the name and table on them. I thought it was a great idea.

Puzzles
Submitted by: Monica of Houston, Texas, USA
I like art so I decided to go to the art store. One day I found cardboard puzzles. I decided to put my husband's and my favorite picture on the puzzles and put them at each table for the guests to put together. Each puzzle displayed the wedding date, our names and a little poem that read, "This love was brought together with loving hands to guide it."

Cracked Ice Table Centerpieces
Submitted by: Mia S. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
For a wedding I helped decorate, the centerpieces also acted as the guest favors. We had a low budget to work with, so I went to Michael's craft store and found these glass fish bowl/flower pot looking things for only $0.99 each. Then, I found the packets of cracked ice for $5. Two teaspoons of cracked ice made enough to fill the whole bowl. You just add water and, if you want, food coloring to match your wedding colors (burnt orange and gold). It was a fall wedding. Then you let it sit overnight. After that, we inserted gold mini candles (12 for a $1.00 - I caught a good sale) into the bowls and then decorated the top of the bowl with burnt orange colored ribbon and gold connected rings. We lit the candles at the reception. All the guests loved them and kept asking where we had gotten them. The centerpieces were "raffled off" and the guests who didn't win were given the mini candles with the ribbon tied around them. All and all we only spent about $60. And I had fun making them, too. (Hint: It might be something fun for the bridal party to do together to break the ice before the wedding!)

Tea Cup Candles
Submitted by: Dee of Shelby Twp., Michigan, USA
These make great bridal shower gifts or wedding favors. Go to an antique store or to a second hand shop. Buy some tea cups with matching saucers. Melt some wax, color, scent if desired, and pour it into the tea cups. They make a really unique gift.

Candied Apples
Submitted by: Loleta of Ozone Park
My wedding is taking place in the fall of 2002. As a wedding coordinator, I needed something unique that really reflected my fiancé's and my personality. The "placecards" will also serve as one of the favours. Since the wedding is in the Fall and my family loves to feed people, the placecards will be candied apples wrapped in cellophane tied with a big bow. The names will be printed on a sticker and placed on the cellophane. Or you can print a label to hang off of the stick in the apple like a leaf. The second favour will be a miniature apple crumb pie. The candied apple and pies will be purchased from an Apple Farm in LI. Cost of both items: approximately $5.

Snowflakes
Submitted by: Kari of Overland Park, Kansas, USA
I'm getting married in January of 2003, and my fiancé and I agreed on a winter-themed wedding. Our main theme is snowflakes with the colors silver and blue. I took a garland of small glass bulb ornaments and painted them all a shiny blue. I then took them all off of the garland and put a silver snowflake sticker on each one of them. I then tied a bow on the top and attached it to a card stock that I printed off of my computer. It reads,

In the white blanket
that embraces the earth...
there are no two snowflakes
that are alike.

You are one of those
snowflakes that make up
the love that embraces
our lives.

Thank you for being
a part of our special day.

It's a rather nice little ornament for them to put on their tree! They'll look very elegant on the tables. One will be placed at every place setting at my reception.

Espresso Camping Cups
Submitted by: Wendy of San Diego, California, USA
We bought espresso camping cups. We bought mailing labels you print on your computer (flower patterned). On these we put the names of the bride and groom, the date of the wedding and the lake it took place at. We stuck these to the front of the cups. Then we glued (witih a glue gun) raffia and little flowers to the top of the cup's handle. Inside the cup we put tea light candles. Each guest received one of these. Later that night, we took the candles out and each guest had a shot of very good tequila out of their cups. They loved it!!!
