How to Respond to a Wedding Invitation

[ Guests Index | Invitations Index ]
email this to a friend

If you receive a wedding invitation without a pre-printed response card (wherein you simply indicate the number of people attending and what will be your preferred dinner selection), then a handwritten note of acceptance or regret should be sent to the host of the wedding.

A formal acceptance is written as follows:

Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Smith
accept with pleasure
Mr. and Mrs. Jones'
kind invitation for
Saturday, the sixth of November

A formal regret is written as follows:

Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Smith
regret that they are unable to accept
Mr. and Mrs. Jones'
kind invitation for
Saturday, the sixth of November
