[ Parties Index ]
email this to a friend

The engagement party is not a usual event that precedes a couple's wedding day. However, for some couples and their families an engagement party serves as the beginning of a wondrous journey towards that ultimate day..

  • Purpose is to formally announce the engagement to both the bride's and groom's family

  • Usually hosted by bride's family

  • Immediate family, close relatives and friends should be in attendance

  • The engagement party is usually held almost immediately, or a few months, after the announcement

  • The party can be as formal or informal as you wish

  • The party can be hosted at someone's residence or at a restaurant

  • Engagement gifts are not the norm, although a close relative or dear friend may opt to present you both with a congratulatory gift.
