Computer-designed Wedding Invitations
Submitted by: Michelle O. of Norton, MA
When my fiance and I got married, we were looking for ways to save
money. I had gotten a card for my birthday from my grandmother that she made on
her computer through the American Greetings Gold Software. I loved it so much
that I thought that we could use it to make our own wedding invitations. When I browsed through
the selections, I found the perfect picture used as a birthday card. It lets you
erase the wording and input your own. I matched our invitations to our style of
wedding perfectly and for about half the cost too! My wedding stationery all
matches - from the invitations to the table cards!! I purchased my paper at the
local office supply store. It works wonderful!

Postcard Reply Cards
Submitted by: Aimee of Piscataway, New Jersey
For the reply card, we used postcards! All you need is a computer and
Avery postcards from an office supply store. You save both on the stationery
and on the postage. Also, no paper cuts from opening all those envelopes!

Follow up on RSVPs
Submitted by: I. K. of Las Vegas, Nevada
We were married two months ago and had a beautiful wedding. There was
only one bad spot in the whole day. About ten
people, who had almost literally
"begged" to be invited and who had
RSVP'ed, never showed up. Needless to say, I felt
that was quite tacky, because we DID NOT invite
some people who we wanted to be there because
these folks were a "sure bet." I now recommend to brides
who are following up on their RSVPs to consider
calling their invited guests. Most of the time
people don't mean to be rude; they're just
forgetful. I hope this saves another bride from
watching a lot of food, cake, champagne and
favors go to waste unnecessarily.

"Saving Time"
Submitted by: S. Brunskill of Kansas City, Missouri
We are printing our own invitations and "Thank You" cards
simultaneously. One neat thing about doing them at the same time is
that we are addressing them both! What a time saver! Now we won't have to
continuously go through our guest list (about 275) to find the gift giver's name and address!

"Make Your Own Invitations"
Submitted by: Autumn of Mendocino
To cut costs on our invitations we made our own with the computer.
Most print or copy shops sell paper and matching
envelopes in a variety of sizes and colors.

Purchase Wedding Invitations Online
Submitted by: Laura in Denver, Colorado
I did not think that it could be done but I have started seeing
web sites pop up with full online ordering of wedding invitations.
My friend purchased her invitations from one of these sites and they were
beautiful. What a simple way to take care of a somewhat difficult
task for those of us who are strapped for time.

Divide The Guest List
Submitted by: A Bliss! Reader from Missouri
Immediately after you become engaged, compose a sample invitation list and
rectify it with the number of people you will want to have at your reception.
When making out the real invitation list, allow your fiancé to invite 1/4 of
the total number of guests invited while giving yourself 1/4, your fiancé's
parents 1/4 (may include your fiancé's family if he's got important friends, business
associates he must invite), and your parents 1/4 of the guest list. This precludes
any "casual" inviting on your parents' parts to people you and your fiancé don't know in the slightest.

Homemade Wedding Invitations
Submitted by: Michelle of Raleigh, North Carolina
If you want to make your invitations, there are computer programs
that can make it really easy. My fiancé and I found one called "Create Your
Own Beautiful Wedding Invitations" that even came with the right size paper
and matching envelopes.

Buying Invitations "Off-site"
Submitted by: Amy of Pleasanton
I had a great experience buying my wedding invitations. I
played around with the wording and the fonts on an internet invitation site
and then ordered my invitations from Party City. They were 30% off the
price in the catalogs, and they came back absolutely perfect in 8 DAYS!

Printing Invites
Submitted by: Crystal of Virginia, USA
I have discovered that local colleges and even high schools will
print your invites at nearly or no cost to you. You just need to ask
ahead of time. They are more than willing to work with you to design a one
of a kind invitation. This is a great opportunity for the students, too!

Flowers Into Invitations
Submitted by: Ray of Burke
We recently got engaged and were looking for unique wedding
invitations and found a service that turns flowers into paper! We sent them
our engagement flowers and they turned them into our wedding invitations! Hand
made paper with our flowers in them... very nice indeed!
