Even if you're not from the New York area, the following interview might prove useful to you. It highlights the ways couples should select reception facilities, the ways the facilities operate, and some insightful tips and suggestions. We thank Jerry Scotto, the General Manager of Fox Hollow, for his time and his advice.

Q:    For those of us not familiar with your establishment, can you tell us a little bit about Fox Hollow?
A:    We are a restaurant and a catering facility on Long Island in New York. We are styled in English Country Manor. Our decor is very Victorian. We do banquets of all sorts, predominantly weddings. Our largest banquet room can facilitate as large as 300 hundred guests.

Q:    What types of questions should a bridal couple ask when considering Fox Hollow, or any banquet facility for that matter, as their location for their wedding reception?
A:    The standard questions regarding price and deposits. Also cancellation policies and things of that nature. How to choose a facility? Well, first, you feel it when you walk in. It's my interpretation that a bride and groom would feel it when they first walk into the facility. And more than asking for what you are looking for, how you are treated. How important are you to the establishment? How quickly are they servicing you? How cordially are you greeted? How, or what, do they offer while you're there? Are they offering you coffee or cocktails? Which again, relate back to how important you are to a facility.

If you get a good feel, a positive feel, right from the get go, then that should pretty much pave the way aside from the introduction.

Q:    What unique services or surroundings does Fox Hollow have that will make a bridal couple's wedding reception memorable?
A:    We've gone to great expense to make our facilities beautiful. We invest almost $200,000 a year in internal floral design alone to maintain a certain look and ambiance about the facility. We are very meticulous with regards to decorating for the season. We go to, again, large expense in sculpting our gardens and maintaining a beautiful exterior. We care. It's very simple. We try to go the extra mile. We try to be ahead of our competitors.
